Richard Abidin Breen was born on 29 June, 1979 to a Turkish father and an Irish mother in a tough east-London estate. Both of his parents wanted him to have an English name, but added his middle name to show his Turkish roots. He grew up to love music and fame. It was his mum who got him into performing after taking dancing classes including ballet. In 1997, when he was only 17, he got into boy band Five - where he'd be spending the next four and a half years. He would be officially called 'Abs' from now on (a short for 'Abidin'), as there was another Richard in the band.  Five split in 2001 and Abs went on to be a solo artist, wowing fans with his cool tunes and perfectly sculptured buffed body. Abs is currently recording a solo album, due for release in late 2010.
