LIAM NEESON

Liam Neeson was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, on the 7 June 1952. Growing up in a predominately Protestant town of Ballymena, Neeson witnessed little of the sectarian prejudice that plagued most of Northern Ireland. At the age of nine, Neeson took boxing lessons and soon after he had beaten most of the challengers All Saints Youth Club could come up with. It was at this time he began boxing on the amateur competitive level. Neeson attended the University of Belfast to study physics and computer science, but he flunked out. Then he went to St. Mary's Teaching School and two years later he dropped out. After staring in a stage production of 'The Risen People', which resulted in two years of work. Neeson moved to Dublin and within a year of moving made his film debut as Jesus Christ in an educational film aimed at Irish Bible students. In 1992 Spielberg asked Neeson to star in his best role to date in Shindler's List, for which he was nominated an Oscar for Best Actor. One of his biggest films The Phantom Menace gave him the fame and recognition his career needed.
