Born in the town of Uvalde, Texas, on November 4 1969, actor Matthew McConaughey grew up in Longview, Texas. The youngest of three children, Matthew studied film direction at the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated in 1993. Matthew got his start working in television commercials and was cast in his first minor role in the movie Dazed and Confused. After playing some additional small parts, Matthew's big break came as the lawyer Jake Brigance in the film A Time to Kill, based on the novel of the same name. Matthew's rugged good looks made him many fans, as he was constantly compared with a young Paul Newman and he was cast in many more movies. In 2005, People Magazine named him the "Sexiest Man Alive". An avid University of Texas football fan, McConaughey is often seen at Longhorn games. In addition to his home in Austin, he also owns a 1,600 acre ranch in Texas.
