Shayne Thomas Ward was born on October 16th 1984 and is an English pop singer, who rose to prominence in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as Asia, after winning the second series of The X Factor. Immediately after his victory, Shayne signed a recording contract with Sony BMG and his first single, "That's My Goal", was released in the UK on Wednesday, December 2005 and after selling a massive 742,000 copies, it became the Christmas number one single of 2005, held the top spot for four weeks and stayed in the top 75 until June 2006. As of 2008 Shayne has sold over 1 million records worldwide. Shayne has recently explained that he wants a greater creative input on his next album and that he wants people in the UK to recognise the international success he has achieved since The X Factor stating: "People need to realise that I'm not just a UK name. I'm more international."
